What I Would Teach A Hundred Men

I would teach a hundred men to answer prayers, rather than how to pray and not how to act.

I would teach them to give unreservedly, rather than ask repeatedly;

To listen more often than speak;

To love freely, not only seek to be loved;

To be thoughtful with questions, slow with answers;

To demand justice for the oppressed rather than seek revenge for oneself;

To take up the cross, not only kneel before it.

To provide daily bread, rather than ask for more than is needed to feed themselves.

To forgive easily, to make apologies readily.

To work to see the kingdom come, Today, rather than speak only of a future kingdom, Then.

I would teach them

To heal

To be healed

To turn over tables

To be overturned

To move mountains

To be moved

To walk on water

To drown

To love neighbors

To be hated

To raise the dead

To die
